Sigmas step, Zetas Step, Betas Step, Gammas Step ( For those of y’all who know me, you know I had to remix that ! LOL ) Gangstas walk, pimps  gonna talk as Kanye sings this hook on his college drop out album my next blog came into creation.

So, my question to you all out there is: Do people even know the symbolism of Greek life?  For instance, people who aren’t Greek always have the worst impression of what sororities and fraternities stand for.  I mean really, these prestigious organization’s do have meaning to them.  To many people, some  think that these organizations are all about getting laid, partying and oh! Here’s the best one, that they are just a legalized national gang!!! Can you believe that !!

In conclusion, to be a proud member of any of these greek organizations out there it means alot to the greek members.  The reason being that,  many of these members  are continuing a belief that was started by  their founders because; they also believe in  making that change through that brotherhood and sisterhood of their choice, by reaching out  to their their communities.

Whats goin on Cuzzo? Nice post. The Iotas just had a forum about this same subject and its amazing the things you will hear a Non-Greek say about a member of a greek organization…esp in NPHC and UGC. We just have to do better in going on and showing them what we’re about, or they are going to continue to think that way.
In a way, the way Greek life is going, it is similar to a gang (or at least that’s what I believe.) The Crips started as a way for young black men to bond and uplift their communities through a form of brotherhood after the dissolution of the Black Panthers. As you can see it today, it’s nothing like the founders intended it to be. Greeks fight over calls, strolling, stepping, who does who’s signature moves..when in reality, none of these things define that specific organization…but this is for another conversation lol. Keep up the good work!

Lovin the title Sis. Never will and never had to buy my friends. When your talking about a national organization that makes both a local impact and a national impact on a daily basis there has to be some type of monetary foundation to sustain it. Organizations like MECHA, the ACLU, NAACP all have members give money to sustain that org. However, I would argue that sororities and fraternties are pretty different from any other club or org you can join, because unlike Lacross, or WASB, or Hoofers, your membership is for life and you are not a member but a sister or brother, which I think is incredible and so much more significant.
