For all yall music lovers out there, you know how it goes. They’re is always that one Jam that you always think of that keeps your head bopping and body moving no matter where you are. As time goes by, when that favorite hit of yours blows over you always think back and wonder “What ever happen too…? Man that was my Jam!” Well, my first Blog Post of “Where are they now?” will start of with Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz.
The magnificent duo Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz began their career working with many different artist, such as appearing on Whodini’s album ” Six” on the track ” Can’t get enough” , as well as assisting in writing on two other tracks of that album. Soon after, the duo released their album in 1998 called ” Make It Reign”, which featured their platinum hit “Deja Vu, Uptown Baby”. Another hotness about ”Make It Reign” that year was that, the album featured heavy hitters such as: Big Pun, Fat Joe, Cam’ron , Kurupt and Sticky Fingaz. After that album, Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz began working on their own solo project, which later resulted in Lord Tariq coming out with his own album called ” The Barcode”. As of Peter Gunz, he has definitely kept his grind going under the radar and is ready to come out full force with many upcoming projects. Some of those projects include, his new album and introducing to the world, his son “Corey Gunz”
on their new anticipated reality show on MTV called: ” Son of a Gun: A true Bronx Tale.”
So my question to everyone is, if he came out with an album do you think he would come out with pure hotness or go by under the radar? After all, new blood in Hip Hop always keeps us interested in hearing something different. So let me know what you think!!!!

Posted in JUICYHIGHLIGHTS on December 29, 2009 by Stephanie
Son of a former slave, civil rights activist, lawyer and media mogul, Percy Sutton, died on Saturday 26, 2009. Percy Sutton, began his mark in Harlem on 125th street right after his release from the famed Tuskegee Airmen in World War II. After World War II, in 1953 Sutton founded his Harlem law office , which represented Malcom X, his family and over 200 cases during the civil rights marches in the south during 1963-64. Later on The NAACP made him President for 2 terms as well as Sutton becoming a great influence on his community and the government.
While working as a lawyer Sutton became a well-known politician that served in the New York State Assembly, which later he became the Manhattan borough President in 1966. Well after that election, Sutton was known as the highest ranked official in the state of New York. Although, his run for senate and mayor wasnt a success, he took a lead in becoming a great political advisor for Jessie Jackson when he was running for President , as well as helping President Obama during his campaign. Not only was Sutton into politics, but he also found other ways to help support the black community as well as leave his imprint. In 1971, Sutton and his brother bought out WLIB-AM , which later turned into what we know as today WBLS the first black owned radio station in New York as well as the home of Steve Harvey.
Along with the major change in radio, Sutton took it upon himself to reconstruct The Infamous Apollo and became the head of the group that ran the leading and second largest black weekly newspaper in the country called ” The Amsterdam News”. Overall, I would like to send my condolences to the Sutton family and most Importantly i would like to thank him for making such a change and being a great influence on the black community.
